Percebo que algumas pessoas ainda têm dúvidas quando o assunto envolve cobrança, valores por palavra, etc. Tradutores reclamam que agências pagam pouco e por isso preferem clientes diretos, pois podem cobrar mais, cobrar o quanto quiser/achar justo. Mas você já parou para pensar no porque dessa diferença? Por que uma agência me paga R$0,07 por palavra e posso cobrar do cliente direto R$0,20 por palavra, por exemplo?
Para início de conversa, os prós e contras existem em todos os tipos de trabalho, e o nosso não seria diferente. Você pode optar por fazer TUDO ou simplesmente fazer a tradução. Veja:
- Captação de clientes: a agência consegue cliente para você, ou você pode optar por correr atrás para encontrar o cliente no mercado.
- Negociação: a agência entende o que o cliente quer e negocia prazos e valores, ou você precisará entender o que o cliente deseja (muitas vezes nem ele sabe explicar o que quer) e negociar prazos e valores.
- Preparação do texto: a agência entrega o arquivo pronto para ser traduzido, ou você precisará editá-lo ou torná-lo editável para poder começar a traduzir.
- Revisão: a agência encontra um revisor/revisa o seu trabalho, ou você precisará encontrar um colega e solicitar que faça a revisão para você (e é claro que você pagará por isso).
- Formatação/Edição final: a agência formata/edita o arquivo para poder enviar ao cliente de acordo com o solicitado, ou você precisará fazer isso ou contratar alguém que saiba fazer (e também pagará por isso).
- Pagamento: a agência ficará responsável pela cobrança, ou você precisará entrar em contato com o cliente para fazer isso.

Se for resumir tudo isso, poderíamos dizer em poucas palavras que a agência de tradução faz todo o trabalho que você não quer e/ou não sabe fazer. As agências são as mediadoras entre o cliente e o tradutor e o revisor. Se um cliente estiver demorando para efetuar o pagamento, a agência fará a cobrança ou acionará os meios certos para receber o que lhe é devido, e se for uma agência séria, irá efetuar o seu pagamento independente do cliente já ter pago ou não. No entanto, se o cliente for seu… Boa sorte!!!
Não estou defendendo que agências nos paguem migalhas por palavras, mas sim explicando porque existe diferença quando enviamos nossos valores para uma agência e para um cliente direto.
É preciso estar atento ao trabalho que teremos e ao tempo que levaremos para finalizar um projeto. E se pararmos para pensar, vocês concordam que não seria justo (para nenhuma das partes) se cobrássemos, por exemplo, R$0,34 por palavra, tanto para agência como para o cliente direto?
Valorize o seu trabalho, sim! Mas também analise o que será feito e para quem será feito, e seja justo!

Eu estou ciente de que se você for trabalhar para um agência de tradução ganhará muito menos do que um cliente direto, mas eu já ouvi pessoas falando que algumas agências exploram o tradutor pois pagam valores muitos baixos como 0,04 por palavra, e que você não deve aceitar isso porque trabalhará muito por muito pouco. Queria saber quantos centavos por palavras não é considerado exploração? Se você puder me responder, obrigado.

Achei super interessante este seu posto Laila, é bem verdade que sempre que exista intermediário acaba sempre por existir uma diminuição de preço para o tradutor, o mesmo acontece noutras indústrias como: "agricultura/venda de produtos em supermercados/cliente final", é assim mesmo! No entanto, e na minha humilde opinião, que traduzo para clientes finais e também por intermediário de agências acredito que se tivermos a sorte de conseguir o cliente final direto é bem melhor para o tradutor. Cria-se uma ligação de confiança que qualquer tradutor pode e deve querer para si, enquanto que com agência de tradução, bem, se aparecer alguém que cobre menos podemos correr o risco de perder o "cliente".
É verdade, Ana! Mas se você faz um bom trabalho e entrega dentro do prazo, não acredito que haja o risco da agência te trocar por alguém que cobre mais barato. Isso seria um risco para a própria agência, também.
